Well you could ask TTT , he is the head of Densa. Sorry that was a typo I did mean Mensa.
Here are the numbers:
38-122, 17-24, 52-262, 93-840, 21-?
All I've got so far is differences: 84, 7, 210, 847. Interesting connection between 1st 3 and last 3 digits?
747
38-122, Multiply 38 by 3 = 114; add 8 =122
17-24, multiply 17 by 1 =17, add 7= 24
Carry that on
Stopped 'cos I saw an answer. I'll carry on
52-262, 52 x5 = 260; add 2 = 262
93-840, 93 x9 = 837; add 3= 840
21-?. 21 x2 =42, add 1 = 43
So pattern is multiply each number by its first digit, then add the second digit.
I was just correcting the 847 difference.

Looks like you've cracked it, FF. Well done, Mr Mathematician.
Cheers Tilly. A glass or two of wine always helps me solve these
Oh!
After all that, I don't think merv has been back on AB to see the answer. I enjoyed the wine though
