My question is does the editorial staff review all reports, or only those that have been followed through and the post deleted or the user suspended? Surely if the staff only review those reports that have been acted on, then the system is open to abuse by moderators who will be prepared to ignore reports against their friends.
On a recent thread someone made derogatory comments about how some people report . They could only be privy to this information by being told by a moderator. What is in place to prevent moderators sharing Reports with their AB buddies?
I actually think I remember the thread you are talking about Naomi. Quite a long time ago and the post by the mod was removed almost at the moment it hit the screen???
I'm not bother in finding out the 'who' of it just the substance of it but as no evidence is forthcoming I can only assume that it was pretty much an isolated incident and given rather more time to than it deserves.
I must admit I really dont see why so many questions around Ed's and moderators. I have been on this site since 2005 and I have to say, with a very few occasions, what I have seen is fair and measured.
I cant see that it is in the site owners to have 'biased' mods, the site is here to make money for the owners not as a plaything for mods and so I am sure things are rigorously checked for fairness.
Such an ongoing saga re mods on AB.if mods were confident /fair/ non judgemental they should have NO problem admitting to their position as mods. Do not say ‘ they get picked on ‘ they don’t, they gain respect .
