Motor Insurance Renewal - I Don't Believe It.
Just had mine through. Despite being a fairly loyal customer, it's gone up by nearly £2.00. Must be a mistake (or they've realised they've been overcharging me these last couple of years.)

You will ALWAYS get it cheaper if you search for another insurer.Your mistake was staying with the same insurer for a 'couple of years'.They rely on inertia ,many customers just accept the renewal price because they can't be bothered to look around. In 41 years of driving I have NEVER taken the renewal quote, always got it cheaper shopping around. Sometimes over £100 cheaper.
Last year my insurance company wanted to put up my premium by about £100 compared to the previous year. When I called them to try to get a better deal they said unless any details about my car or my circumstances had changed, there was nothing they could do. Needless to say, I didn't stay with them.
Comparatively, the insurer I moved to sent me my renewal quote a couple of weeks ago and it was £2 less than the previous year.

Don't worry all - I didn't say I'd accepted the renewal!
Got a £100 reduction in my last home insurance renewal when I explained I could get it cheaper. And two months in, I'm about to put in a circa 5k claim.
(NB I worked in motor insurance for 40+ years and know that the cheapest is only the best if you don't have to claim.)
