I often think the same thing, grumpy. Shaun rattles off dates of kings, queens and everyone as if he’s got the Encyclopaedia Brittanica in his head (or Wikipedia - how old am I?). However, the Chasers do admit when they just don’t know something, so I don’t think they’ve got a wire in their ear.
