Replacement Door. Back
We have an Everest fitted door which has been installed for over twelve years. It is now out of warranty. Over the last couple of years , this south facing door has become slightly warped and, as a consequence, this heavy rain we've been having is finding its way under the door and into the porch.
My question is, will it be possible to have just the door replaced or will the frame and adjoining window have to be replaced also?

If rain is coming in Tilly, it may well be too warped for adjustment to be enough. What I would do, is to explore the possibility of loosening the frame and sort of bending it to fit the door. Again, it may well be too far gone. Look for a local builder or carpenter who can take a look and advise.

is it? why is that? (im seriously interested) why would someone take exception to you responding to a thread? If it's because you have a history of being antagonistic, i guess you cant really complain, if it's because the poster doesnt like you, or you dont like the poster, why rsepond anyway? It's easy to avoid people here for example i made a promise to myself a few year ago that i wouldn't respond to any threads posted by or on by a certain poster, because i don't like feeling like i'd like to mash someones head in and i have managed to do so :)
did you find my sensible and informative reply to your post on counselling of any use bednobs.? Was it antagonistic? Rude? I speak my mind how I would talk to someone face to face. some people take it how its meant others like to use it a weapon. Its out of my control. It doesn't bother me but I will point it out.
The one problem you have with getting local companies out to give free quotes .. is that is exactly what they will do. They will give you a quote to replace the door and frame.
They are not in the least interested in coming to assess the situation to see if it is repairable.. There is no money in doing a repair ..
My advice would be to find a recommended handyman and let them advise if a repair is an option.
Having personally attended far to many problems with doors and windows than I care to remember .. I can assure you there are a great many fixes that cant really be explained without seeing the problem.
Tilly .. I have been out to the same situation that you describe on more than one occasion .. the fault was a fairly simple one to rectify.
What had happened was the weather bar/drip on the lower edge of the door had come loose and slid along it's guide a few millimetres.
This actually stopped the door from closing without a great deal of force. Over time this would cause the door to warp.
Don't condemn it until someone other than a salesman has visited !

Bednobs I find that comment disheartening and suggest if you have the time or inclination that you go read my recent contributions on AB. As far as I can see there is not a 'tirade of abuse' in sight. You suggesting I would come on your thread about your recent bereavement to make disparaging remarks is actually very hurtful.
