would something like that be suitable for putting in the front window to cover my drive overnight? Would i have to buy anything else to go with it (SD card etc)

It pings us if someone walks on our drive and we can look on our phones and iPads to see who it is.
When we’re looking, we can see down the road too although it doesn’t ping us unless someone steps on to our drive.
It’s useful when we’re away from home.

In your proposed application the night-time IR LED illumination will be reflected back off the glass window pane making it useless for night-viewing.
You will need a camera designed for installation outdoors if it includes IR LED illumination, otherwise you will need a camera which can operate down to at least 0.01 lux (preferably less) and provide additional outside lighting to capture viewable images.
