+1 for what Mamya said. The ingredients in traditional pizzas haven't changed in....maybe 150 years. And variations of flatbread with toppings have been around for 100s of years. It's the "fast food" image that prejudices some people.
Oh, and the processed meat has also been around for centuries...its a necessary method of preservation.
