hairdressers??
22 Answers
I've just had my haircut and asked for a couple of inches off all the way round (I have long hair) she got a section between her fingers and went down to about 2 inches at the ends and said "About that much" I said yes and so she proceeded to cut about 4 inches off... very upset as my hair is now just below shoulder length as opposed to nearly half way down my back...why do hairdressers do this????

I am presuming it is and it is always worth giving them a call and letting them know that you are not happy with the result. You don't have to be rude, just tell them that the sylist went shorter than you wanted even though you stated how much you wanted off. Although they can't put it back on again for you, they may offer something else in the way of compensation, perhaps a cut for a reduced fee next time? That is if you trust them next time! Berylium, I feel from your story that you should have really gone and complained to the hairdresser rather than just tried to destroy their reputation without them being able to try to offer at least their apologies or other sort of compensation. It is just that I own a business and I would hate to think of this being done to me without me being given a chance to put it right!
many salons have picture folios - you could ask to look through and pick on similar or take your own picture so that they cannot misunderstand.
also, may sound daft, but hold up your thumb and forefinger with the amount you are prepared to have cut off - that way they can't ignore a vuisual clue - you'd be surprised at how many people, especially younger ones, couldn''t correctly estimate an inch.
with your own pic, they can't deny anything either as the evidence is there.
