Funny what you think about when your quarantined. There are lots of people in the UK who are here illegally, trafficked by gangmasters and working for very little money, a squalid roof over their head and little food. Now they cannot work, are they still being fed?

They’ll be of little good to their ‘masters’ now unless they’re in prostitution Barry
Wonder how many people are using prostitutes in this present climate? Surely even the most desperate will be, ahem, 'self-relieving'.
Where there’s money to be made for the Pimps, the oldest profession will go on Ken
Why shouldn’t they be able to continue their work (assuming, when you mention “gangmasters”, that you are referring to fruit and vegetable production)?

Among the exceptions to the rules on leaving your home:

“to travel for the purposes of work or to provide voluntary or charitable services, where it is not reasonably possible for that person to work, or to provide those services, from the place where they are living;”

And exceptions to gatherings of more than two people:

“where the gathering is essential for work purposes,”

I wasn't thinking of those working on the farms, NJ. I was thinking of the car washers, the nail technicians, the prostitutes, the factory cleaners.
I know the pimps would like business as usual, Bobbi, and the supply will always be there. Is the demand there, though?

It's going to be difficult for married people that use the services of a sex worker to get out to do so. Or people who live with their partner, of course.
Many of them will be cut loose to fend for themselves, I would think. Another catalyst for civil unrest in the coming weeks.
barry raises a valid question. I have myself wondered how the east European car washers are fairing.
I would suggest as many of them were not living the dream before this crisis, their living standards have taken a nosedive (as unbelievable as that sounds)
I imagine demand might have dropped right off - at least for the street workers

a) the excuse "I'm just going for a quick pint, love" is now ruled out
b) the excuse that "I am working late" is substantially ruled out for a lot of people
c) even an excuse to get out is found given the 75% drop in traffic, that kerb crawling motor is going to stick out like a sore thumb!
I agree, ZM. The pimps won't feed them if they're not bringing money in. And, when this is all over, the ones booted out onto the streets will be replaced quite quickly.
I'm trying to work out how prostitutes can stay 2m away from their clients.
Easy, bhg, it’s covered by ‘where the gathering is essential for work purposes‘
A vacuum cleaner with extension pipe.

Have you tried that, Roy? :D
I know a Police lady...
You've heard of the long arm of the law?
She”S not a police lady, shoota. That uniform has velcro fastenings! ;-)
Well, 'tis true she's no lady...
Perhaps I should have said 'female Police person operative thingy?'
