Virtual Grand National

Anyone having a pop at the pre-recorded Virtual Grand National today - ITV 5pm. As a rule, I have never gambled in the virtual market but this is different for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the prices will not change and the bookies do not prosper with all profits going to the NHS. Secondly, I already had 2 horses earmarked for the 'actual' race and I would be kicking myself if either were to win the virtual one. Plenty of time to make my mind up, I suppose.

A chap from the company running the simulation was on the radio this morning. He said (I think) that the race had already been "run", so a few people will have knowledge of the result already.

Surely if it's pre-recorded, but people are betting on it, then it's open to abuse? Why not run the simulation 'live'?

About a dozen know and have signed non disclosure agreements.Given the proceeds are going to NHS it would be appropriate for a 66-1 winner.

That's what I said in my opening thread, drmorgans; 'pre-recorded'. Obviously the handful of those who are privy to the result will be the most trusted of folk and if any of the firms smell a rat, we'll soon know.

I think I read that 10 people, all involved with the simulation and technical/production side of the virtual race know the result. They have all signed non disclosure agreements, and none of the bookies or television staff know the result. There is a strict limit also imposed on the amounts that you are allowed to wager and no one is going to ruin a career or reputation for what would only be a few quid return. You can't even have a forcast or tricast punt like you normally can.

Togo; can't believe we're getting this flak on a thread about VIRTUAL horse racing. We know to expect it twice a year (Chelters and Aintree) in the REAL world, but CARTOON racing. Give me a break. On second thoughts, no don't! Someone will virtually come here and put a virtual bullet through my skull :-//

I knew it would happen Ken.....the saddos wait for a full year for a bit of virtue signalling and misery sharing, and were not likely to pass up on the chance. Haha . Have you noticed though that their fun filled demeanour follows them on every post they make? If they are not bigging themselves up they are trying to belittle someone that they think won't answer back.

Is that the best you can do? Does it annoy you that some people (heaven forbid female) hold strong opinions that you don't agree with, and actually dare answer you back? Why not try and counter argue the opinion rather than throw insults out to those who frankly could not care tuppence .
