Propane tank for BBQ
7 Answers
Hi everyone, am wondering if I could use a bigger propane tank on my new BBQ. Got Butane tank at the moment but new BBQ says use only propane. The BBQ says to use a tank up to 13kg but I have just been offered a bigger Propane tank free, I think about 19kg. The new BBQ has a clip on regulator and the tank I have been offered has a screw on one. The BBQ is a 3 burner 15kw one. Any advice greatfully received. Thanks.

I think our recycling centre will accept them so if I cannot refill it I will take it there after I have used what is in it. I wanted to know if the BBq could be used with the bigger tank but from what I read on another site if the flow rates and other figures are the same it should be fine unless someone on here knows different. Thanks for the reply.
Try a welding stockist for the reg you need.
Any cylinder will be fine with the correct reg fitting.
The cylinders officially belong to the supplying gas company .. is BOC .. Calor ..etc.
Check a garage or gas supplier will take the specific companies empties.
If you have a cylinder and want a refill, they will want you to have an account.

hi shedman,
i sell gas, the push on regulater you have now is a 27mm reg for a propane patio bottle, the 19kg prop bottle will run your bbq with the right regulator, usually around £8 and in my shop the 19kg bottles are £28.50 and the 13kg patio bottles are the same price.
once your bottle is empty just fly down to your nearest stockist and simply exchange your empty for a full one.
