It'd be good though if someone could actually make a reasoned case for quarantining or testing every Brit returning home (and if it's a repatriation flight we should make sure we know). Once here they are just like you and me aren't they provided we give them Boris's letter.

And to make it clear. I don't care whether we lock all returning Brits in a detention centre for 2 weeks if it keeps everyone else happy that something is being done. I just don't see why there is such strong feeling about this particularly s the scientists and govt have explained several times. I think they'll end up doing it though just to be seen to be doing it
Public Health England has repeatedly stated that temperature checks at airports are ineffective. e.g. from the Luton Airport website (although the same information can be found on other airport websites too):
"[Q]: Are there any health checks on arriving passengers?
[A]: Public Health England (PHE) is the UK Government’s lead agency on Coronavirus. LLA is implementing all their latest guidance.
PHE have implemented a number of measures including early warning of illnesses on flights and a UK wide public information campaign, but PHE do not believe temperature checks on arrival are an effective way of keeping the public safe.
Arriving passengers must follow the latest guidance issued by the UK Government and travel immediately to their place of residence".
Anyway, Covid-19 is no longer largely a threat from overseas. It's already HERE and that's what we've got to worry about! (i.e. you're far more at risk of contracting Covid-19 from chatting face-to-face with your mate from Birmingham than you are if you hug and embrace every single passenger arriving on a flight from Beijing).
The idea that we should be testing all arrivals at our airports seems to have far more to do with xenophobia than it does with science!

There you have it then. Every other Country in the World is filled with xenophobes. All the EU states all of Asia, the Antipodes, the Americas the lot of them racist, China, Japan,(we always thought they were) the Africans, Icelandic, even the Pacific Islanders are testing and monitoring every single entrant into their realms. Guess who isn't? Guess who is having more bovver getting the infection rates down? Guess who is attracting every itinerant from across the Globe to it's shores. Correct.
No Togo. Not every country puts them in quarantine. As far as I can see there is nothing to be disagreed with in what Buenchico posted.
Perhaps you can give a logical explanation of what needs to be done and why. Not with the dinghy travellers- with the British citizens returning home.
I'm not bothered either way really. I realise it would make some people feel better that something is being done, even if it's pointless and expensive, and there is no downside apart from cost and inconvenience to fellow Brits while some others here flaunt the lockdown. But I'm willing to learn where the WHO and scientists have got their thinking wrong.
