Anyone know of a site where you can upload an old photograph of a business and it can tell you where the business was located? I'm talking round about 1940. Thanks.

it should be, but I've looked and I can't find it. There are a few John Jacksons born around 1898, but none with a Jean at his side. I looked on Ancestry; it's possible Find My Past have it, as they do their own transcriptions, which sometimes come out differently.

But I was just looking at Salford; they might have been anywhere at the time. Or they might be there and I somehow missed them. Such things do happen.

PS see my earlier post. I'm not convinced John died in 1935, there's no record of it in Salford. I suspect he died in 1955.

Hi jno, from the link that Mamya put on,John Jackson was born 1898. He married in 1927 and died Dec 14th 1933 Salford 8d 357, so it can't have been him in the photo but, it's possible it could have been his brother Frank Jackson, but I think I'm going to leave it now because the person I am trying to help with this doesn't really have much to go on. Thanks again everyone for your help.x
My advice is to trace the family rather than the photo. Do as much as you can with that branch and then re-look. It took me about 18 years to fix the location of one family photo - but I only got there when I went at it from a different angle.
yes, as I predicted, I missed something!

Any idea when Frank was born?
