Hi, has anyone bought an Amazon Kindle recently cost about £70. If you have any views or comments about it I would be interested to hear. First time of thinking of buying a Kindle so a little unsure of things. Mostly I need it to read at night as I am a bad sleeper. Many thanks.

I have the Paperwhite, too.
i have the waterproof one. I don't like it as much as my previous one which had the page turn by some intuitive button arrangement (it wasnt an actual button but if you pressed ont he screen for a certain amount of time it would turn the page) but i dont think you can buy those new any more. it's great and much less intrusive light wise at night than a tablet

Wow thanks everyone. Still haven't quite decided but from what's been said, leaning towards the Kindle. Always great to come on Answerbank and asking before you buy.
bednobs, that was why I was so sorry when my Sony Readers gave up the ghost. They had physical buttons down the side to turn the page and manage the Reader. No touch screen that could be accidently operated. They didn't have a backlight, though. I bought mine in 2007
If you just want it for reading kindle books, then maybe the Paperwhite would be a better bet. Or, download the kindle app.
I have a Paperwhite, and the Fire 7. It's ok...but small. I only bought it as a back up tablet. It was £39.99 at the time. I don't know what the Paperwhite goes for now.
I have had a kindle for years, and I am on my second one now. I love the fact you can read big books easily.
Given you specifically mentioned reading at night, genie123, I would definitely go for the Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite. The Paperwhite is better but it's £50 more ... the basic Kindle at £70 (with ads) or £80 (without ads) is fine.
