It is yet to be proven that anyone having had C19 is now immune to the virus. So I cannot get my head around the fact that the antibody tests have flown off the shelves, so to speak, at Superdrug. Especially when they cost almost £70 a pop. Had the proof been there, I can well understand the rush to buy these tests. Any ABers bought one? If so, why?
woofgang //virusses are not sentient, they don't have an accord.//
My fault, didn't mean to suggest they got together and agreed on a suicide pact. Would mysteriously disappeared suit you?
Know what else they don't have? Three S's.
Jim, I was asking people (people I like) why they were so sure that vaccinations were the only cure. They could be right, I don't know.
Sars Cov 1 which I'd guess is the closest 'relative' of Sars Cov 2 (Covid 19) just disappeared.
A vaccination can't stop a virus, can it? (unless made compulsory worldwide) Certainly didn't stop Asian Flu as was suggested.
why are the buying the test
because they are buying into the idea - that some antibody is better than none
what the boys and girls have intuitively grasped is
the number ( PPV) for the tests
the probability if the test is positive, then you are infectious (throat swab)
and the probability that if the antibody test is positive then you are immune (blood test)
The figure if you are paying fifty knicker a shot is - around 95%. I positive antibody test I would have thought is reason enough to come out from under the stairs and take your cottonwool wrapping off. ( shielding )
There is a lot we just dont know - neighbour up da road is repeatedly positive on throat swab, and infected no old people in the care home and none of her family. Up the road, three deaths on one street.
