Is there a way of working out what your blood pressure should be? If you are over 70 and suffer painful arthritis, your blood pressure wouldn't be the same as a young person who isn't in pain would it?

Barsel, you don't have to prove anything to your GP. If you don't want to take another med then just refuse.
I take two different meds for high blood pressure, which makes a remarkable difference.
I’d rather take two meds than suffer the potential consequences of high blood pressure.
I don’t like taking meds either, who does, but I’d rather take ‘em than have a stroke or something and die!
Why not see if your GP will give you a 24hour blood pressure monitor. This should at least give an accurate measurement of your blood pressure and you can go from there.
vagus, your meds make a difference you can feel, and you are happy to take them. choice is an individual thing.
