Am I alone in noticing that since the awful George Floyd death in the USA and the consequent rise of the BLM movement, there’s been a big increase in black people on British television? Shouldn’t presenters, experts etc be chosen for their ability / talent rather than anything else?

There may be something in what you say, Fender...
The point is Tilly2 that they always moan that they are discriminated against, but the percentage of black people on television is extremely higher than the 3% population figure given for the UK. It’s cause I’m white innit!
Question Author
Yes, 3% of the UK population is classed as black, but that excludes the 7% who are classed as Asian and 2% as mixed.. 87% is classed as white or white British
Sorry Tilly:

andy-hughes “Theblip - // Shouldn’t presenters, experts etc be chosen for their ability / talent rather than anything else? //

They should, and to infer otherwise is to suggest that such individuals are chosen for their ethnicity first, and their abilities second. “

Tilly: my comment wasn’t really relevant, it’s just that when ‘writers’ confuse imply and infer, it rattles my sub-editing bars.

while were at it, why no... maybe women? in burkas in adds, or are supposed to be the unseen, thinking of diversity here, or would that be to politicaly uncorrect, or are they the unseen purposely in adverts.
level playing field and all that, or is it that people need to see faces
because that the way of the world, language expression etc, and it would send a wrong message, bee's nest...mmm
Again, there may be something in what you say, Fender...I'll keep looking and may work it out
fiction-factory, i could be blunt, let people make up there own minds
ponder if you will.

First night of the proms on BBC2 now, already as many black faces as white Never come across that at the proms before
Why do some people object to black faces on the media? Does it matter? They are just human beings; their skin colour is not important, is it?
Atheist, //why do some people object to black faces//
no one does, just dont like the political correctness of late.
you know what im talking about, ask a question and if
it's the wrong sort of question your tagged as racist.
debate and question is democracy or at least it was.
Allen, I'm with you there. :-)
fender; you don't object to people with dark skin appearing on television, but you do object to being tagged as racist? I didn't tag you as racist. What do you object to?
Atheist, the political climate on bame and the media, cancel culture
its all over the top. think the right thoughts, agree or your cancelled.
if for example i did not like a certain religion, id get shot down for a opinion..sort.. of we cannot hear you, you are not making a valid statement, or you do not agree with us, so your cancelled, mob rules.
Does anyone else get a sore neck from too much head shaking at these oft recurring questions?
fender; I woudn't shoot you down for an opinion, I'd discuss it to see what common points we might have- or not have. Are you jaded from always having people disagree with you without justification?
Atheist, i think the general consensus at the moment is, were right your wrong, blm lgbt and the plethora of other groups in a similar vain i dont get why there protesting, this is not america, it erks me that bame take on what happens in the states, why protest, its not the governments fault, blame the population then..if the british are the way they are...so be it, coersion by marxists is ok though, as they think the correct thoughts, or is marxist to..extreme, ok mob rules.
