Evening all,
I'm probably going to upset some folks with this thread, but it's something that I feel quite strongly about.
Do you think that if someone murders a person and is found 100% guilty of it that they should spend the next whatever amount of years in prison.......
Why keep these people in prison?.....living the life of riley, which most of them do.
I say bring back capital punishment, if they take a life, surely they should have theirs taken away too.

I had quite a soft spot for old Maggie, at least she was a proper leader you could hate, not like Tony Blair. Hate him as I do , I can't quite get my teeth into him in quite the same way. He's the best advert for the Conservative Party for 50 years. Tragic.

If its 110% proved that,that person is guilty,then yes an eye for an eye,it`s bullet time.If its a nonce,thats what pay per view was invented for.

Depending on the reason, most definately yes.

I think definitely for cases such as child murder. there would never be any ifs and buts about that would there. No case for revenge or self defense. With DNA now, no mistakes need to be made anymore do they? I would love to see the likes of Ian Huntley and Roy Whiting strung up by the rollocks and slowly electrocuted!!! I could do it for them too, but i think that honour should go to the parents of Sarah, jessica and Holly!

It is all about circumstances, on that you cant argue, take Tony Martin for instance, but these days, there is no deterrent and murder for the sake of it is becoming such a common occurrence, do we even bat an eyelid when we hear it on the news now!!! Sad, very very sad.

We need to do something and thats not locking them up in a nice comfy cell with luxuries of a telly, and all the other crap they get.

!00% Certain??? I thought all people found guilty were supposed to be 100% guilty? There a currently about 200 women serving sentences for the murder of their babies. It would seem most may have not been guilty. Still,what's a few innocent people done away with. A Polish lad served 17 tears for a crime he COULD NOT have committed,his mother died shortly after he was released,yet another innocent person you'd have killed. The list of miscarriages of justice is endless.They may offend,but ot those who wish a return of caoital punshment,I just hope it's your child or grandchild that get accused even when innocent,then see how you feel. Don't think it can't happen,because it's obvious it can.

No, Rock'n'Roll, people are convicted of criminal offences when the jury or magistrates are convinced beyond reasonable doubt of their guilt.

This does not mean beyond any doubt whatsoever. Nobody apart from witnesses (and very often not even them) can be 100% sure of what happened within an event where they are being provided with evidence from third parties.

I have just read the executioner's account (Ellis) of the hanging of Edith Thompson in 1923. A heart-rending experience for all present, and especially Thompson of course. Here is an account from Wikipedia:

I don't really see how we could contemplate any return to capital punishment. Lethal injection somehow makes it seem cleaner and 'kinder', but I don't think we should return to taking lives. Imprisonment for natural life.

And, of course, since we�re now venturing into realism, I�ll say what I always say whenever this question is raised. Capital punishment will not be reinstated in this country unless the 1998 Human Rights Act is repealed and the UK withdraws from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Both of these preclude the use of the death penalty in any form and whilst they are in force it cannot be reintroduced even if all the population and all the MPs wanted it. Further, as a result of our withdrawal from the ECHR we would also have to withdraw from the EC as membership is conditional upon being a signatory to the Convention. So, all in all, pretty unlikely.

My husband and I feel very strongly about this. If it is cold blooded murder than absolutely take their life also. If someone killed someone else in self defence than no, because they were not intentionally thinking of killing them. We also feel that pedo's, serial rapists and murderers should just be shot in the head. Quick and easy. My husband on many occasions has said he would quite happily stand in front of a confessed pedo and shoot him in the head. Although at the end of the day, who are we to decide who lives or dies. They will all have their judgement day evetually. If you believe in greater powers.

Certainly some cases are justified.

Redbel, I have just seen on granada what these two bast4rds got, its a disgrace!

His family must be feeling awful.
