hello. my norton antivirus is about to expire and instead of buying another years subscription, i was wondering if i could still use the definitions downloaded from the symantec site. like do they let you use the definitions for free but just charge you for the live update feature?

im not sure, i just wont let mine expire !!
The simple answer is yes, you can carry on, but no you can update AT ALL. Every now and then - maybe everytime for all I know (Been a while since I had Norton!) you will be warned that you are not up to date etc, and it will try to MAKE you pay the money.

It'll slow things up and annoy you.

You can get a free one you know http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1 which I think is better than Norton.
so, that should have said "no you CANNOT update"
