Awhile ago there was talk about cheques being phased out and I understood the idea was later scrapped. Today I was told there has been a change of heart and cheques will now be scrapped on 31st of October this year. Did anyone else know about this and will you be sorry to see them no longer in use?

Should be currency affairs :D
I doubt I will ever write another cheque.

However I would prefer my 86 year old mother didn't try on line transfer of funds, as it could all go horribly wrong.
Whatever our own views our on this subject, it seems that the "card only" system will arrive at some point. Finland and Sweden have already announced this will happen in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
Others will follow, the UK surely will have to do the same at some point. Perhaps we should save our cash and cheque books - who knows, in hundred years or so they might be worth a few pounds to our descendants !!
