“Non-essential goods are not allowed to be sold over the next two weeks. That's why there are hundreds of shops the length and breadth of Wales are closed. The underlying issue is not about shopping, it is about saving lives."
This statement from Wales’s first minister makes absolutely no sense.
I was about to post this to an existing discussion. This has now been removed it appears.
Please, AB, do not keep doing this unless there’s a really good reason.
It’s infuriating
The wording doesn't make sense but I assumed, based on something I heard on the radio a few days ago that it was just about ensuring the supermarkets don't take revenue 'unfairly' by selling things to people that other shops would do if they weren't closed.
So after lockdown people will go and spend their money on the non-essential goods they've been waiting to buy for 2 weeks from the shops they originally would have done.
In my opinion people just won't wait and will buy their stuff from Bezos anyway but there we go.
For half my life I have come to believe that the people in authority who rule our everyday lives have no idea how the rest of us live.
Sadly this is now being confirmed daily with the non-sensical Covid rules. All the new rules about pubs have been contrived by people who have no understanding how pubs function.
And so this bonkers from The Welsh Assembly. The Pan shop in the High Street cannot sell you a new pan because it isn’t essential. So the Pan section in Wrexham Tesco is roped off and they can’t sell you a new pan either.
So we buy our new pan from Amazon and now it wends its way from Rome, Italy.
One of the nurses in my hospital lives in Wales and a friend of heres needed a new bottle warmer for her baby( yeah i know you can pop it in hot water) but its an electrical item and thus non essential so you can't get one.
I have noticed that just as the American president stands on a podium saying 'President of the United States', so does the Welsh leader stand on a similar podium with the legend, 'Prif Weinidog' (First Minister). Talk about delusions of grandeur.
