I've downloaded a Youtube music clip to 'downloads' but don't know how to change it from MP4 to MP3 so I can put it onto a CD to play on my car radio (MP3).
I used Ant Video Downloader which works very well but I can't find any means of conversion. Can anyone help, please ?

Paste the chosen Youtube url in to the following. Choose mp3 format. Click 'more settings' to choose quality:

I've got Ant Video Downloader installed on my machines but I've also got this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-download/

If you install that extension you'll find that there's a 'Download As' button underneath the video on all Youtube pages. That allows you to choose the format which you'll use to download the file, including 'MP3'.

If you want to extract the audio from an existing video file on your computer, there are countless file conversion programs which can do the job, including Format Factory:
http://www.pcfreetime.com/

However if you've got VLC you can do it from there (which is what I'd do):
Open VLC
Go to Media > Convert/Save
Click 'Add'
Navigate to the location of your video file and select it.
Click 'Convert/Save'
Select 'Audio (MP3)'
Click the 'Browse' button to choose a dstination for your MP3 file
Check that 'Save as type' is set to 'Containers (.mp3)'
Click 'Start'
https://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ i use this all the time and if i can use it anybody can.....converts almost anything to almost anything....easy and fast

Are you still there, Chris.

The ' Download As...' button you refer to isn't working any more. I've tried refreshing as recommended but with no success. Any ideas ?

Cheers.

Weird! (I use that extension frequently, with no problems).

Try the software equivalent of 'turn it off and turn it on again':

Uninstall the extension. (Three lines, top right > Add-ons > Extensions > Remove).
Close Firefox.
Restart your computer. (Possibly not necessary but it might help!)
Open Firefox.
Go to Add-ons > Extensions again.
Search for 'Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express' and install it directly from there.
Cross fingers and try again.

Driverdale. The programme you recommend requires you to buy the Premium version for any recording over three minutes - which most music recordings are !
Well Derek, ive used this for years now, cant say just how many songs ive had from it...never paid for the premium version and have quite a few well over 3 mins long, cant understand it.
On that lnk i sent you, drop down to the bit where it gives you all the various links and press on the FS...free studio and try that

Hi dd,

I've tried that link and it won't let me download anything over three minutes unless I buy premium version. I don't think I've got it wrong.

Thanks.
