//So your saying we SHOULD lock up the vunerables???//
Er...no!
//It would be practically impossible to isolate a whole community plus care workers plus support staff..for how long? What age groups, over 60,s 70,s 80,s?//
You don't have to tell me! I was commenting on this:
//...but a still cant see an option other than to say lets just lock all vunerables up and maybe let them die without cluttring up are haspitals,//
I was trying to understand how the suggestion of locking them up equated with "leaving them all to die". Gosh, this is hard work sometimes!
To be clear - I don't advocate locking anybody up at any time. I don't advocate closing huge swathes of the economy at any time. I have, from the beginning advocated "targeted protection" for those of the vulnerable who want it. It would be proper shielding - not the pathetic effort that was made last time ("stay indoors and get somebody to do your shopping if you can") - with comprehensive facilities to care for those who should not go out and who don't want to. It could be paid for using the money that has been used to pay people who are not vulnerable to sit at home whilst their employer's business goes down the kharzi.
It is senseless to pay a 25 year old in North Devon to sit at home because the shop he works in has been forcibly closed while a 75 year old asthmatic living in Nottingham or Liverpool has to go to Tesco's for a weekly shop.
