If you are urinating "too much" in volume then you are ill and should see a doctor. This is, however, quite unlikely to be the case but you should be aware of a distant possibility. Your body normally correctly monitors the need for fluid and that manifests itself as thirst. Suggestions that we need to drink more than the body asks for are the fashion but whenever the practice is correctly encouraged that would be because the individual has a malfunctioning body. Older people are generally less physically active and therefore transpire less (breath and sweat) so a higher proportion of any/all surplus water finds its way out as urine. Add to that that many older people have less ability to suffer a filling bladder and you get more frequent visits to the toilet. Remember that we take in fluid with pretty much everything we eat so that soon adds up.
