speeding ticket

I recently got back from hols to find a speeding ticket on the mat. Having checked the dates because I had only recently bought the car, I discovered the ticket was for a date previous to when I bought the it ( about two weeks ). GREAT,I thought and filled in the form best I could, telling them that I didn' t own the car at that time so it wasn't me. I have now recieved a letter informing me that I shall be taken to court because I denied driving the car and didn't name the driver of the car at the time of the offence.Will the case be heard at a local court or where the offence took place (approx 100 miles). If it is not local to me can I claim expenses and if so who from.

on saturday evening on talk sport radio from 10-1am the presenter, Mike Dicken, has, every 6 weeks or so, two chappies on who deal with this sort of thing all the time. the website above is one of theirs and i cannot for the life of me remember the other chappie's website

The case against you will be heard in the court for the area in which the offence was committed. Providing you have all the documentation relating to the purchase of the car take them with you the court may look at the case favourably .

If you didn't own the car then you cannot be prosecuted for an offence you didn't commit.

If it goes to court then you will be able to speak to the prosecutor and put your side of the story across.

Wizard, I don't know about the N I P. I just filled it in and sent it off. The letter I recieved later dosen't have a contact No.
