I did a search on the internet for synonyms of jaundiced and couldn't find anything that could be applied to an item of clothing. Ditto dogs.

Jaundiced in the broad sense of bitter, disenchanted, being stretched a bit here to snappish/abrupt. I'm not sure this is entirely defensible, but that's my thinking
