I heard that its the fashion with a 3 piece suite to have the chairs ,although the same fabric and colour, to have a different pattern to the settee. Is that correct?
I have a three seater settee, one matching chair and one chair in my accent colour. The settee and matching chair are leather but the accent chair is fabric. It's all a matter of choice.
I suspect having everything matching may seem a bit old fashioned now. It's never appealed to me, so I'd never have a 3 piece suite. But, to each their own.
i suppose i liked items to go with the colour scheme in the lounge, for instance a yellow chair won't go, whereas the aubergine i chose eventually does.
I would expect a 3 piece to last longer than any "fashion". I'd be intersted to know who told you this and whether they were a salesman trying to shift a dodgy 3 piece?
Nothing matches in my place however I work on a tight colour palette so it still looks harmonious. If you are not sure about going mix and match you could try different accent colours on each piece. saw a lovely set in soft grey, sofa piped in teal, chairs piped in terracotta with the opposing colour as scatter cushions. With a teal and terracotta rug the room looked beautifully balanced
Where did you hear that it is the latest fashion? It might be, I don't know but if you like it, follow it. If you don't like it then don't follow it. A 3 piece suite lasts a long time so make sure you get it right to suit you, that's the important thing.
Thanks for all your answers. Much appreciated. Now gone for all same covering but slightly different style of setteee to chairs to fit in with people's comfort choice.
