Can I paint my kitchen tiles? I am selling my bungalow and the kitchen has been painted recently but the it is quite old fashioned and the tiles are beige and look quite boring. Would painting them brighten them up or just look desperate!!

It's a nice idea Janet, but, unless it's done really well, my humble opinion is that it looks a bit tacky.
Some might worry that the paint will scratch easily and come off in places.

I would just paint a little bleach over them with a small paintbrush to freshen up the grout.

Boring is preferable to painting if you're selling.

Yes, agree with Builder, have seen it done many times and it don't look good. Also folk who have painted kitchen units. Most times a new buyer will want to revamp the kitchen anyhow, so clean and tidy is the best way to go.
My daughter was faced with the same problem. They decided to paint - and they took some time over doing it well, regrouting etc.. It gave an immediate 'lift' to the house and they sold a few months later. The other replies are also correct, of course, it's easy to do it badly.
If I was buying and I saw painted tiles, I would find it off putting. Boring I could live with!
One can paint tiles with tile paint.
Worked well for me in the first place I bought.
OG if you are staying somewhere its different from getting a house ready to sell.

Hi Mr. Builder Long time no see!! Thank you all for your input you have confirmed what I already knew really. My granddaughter has just painted her tiles and although I haven't seen it she is quite happy with it and she is hard to please, but I think she may be trying to convince herself.
