Dado rails

How high should dado rails be placed, does it depend on the hieght of the wall?

know im getting off the subject but this is true my friend asked her father in law if he would fit dil*o rails in her lounge.

The Dado rail was used by the victorians to protect the wall from marks from the back of chairs... and were set to the height of the furniture in the room it was to be fitted in... But we tend to install them now a days 1/3rd up of the floor to ceiling height ...

The usual height is 3 feet. If you had a 12ft wall the dado would be 4ft high !

if it looks right it is right im a joiner put it where u think it looks best.
