What's The Difference?
29 Answers
A friend of mine has an eye test appointment this coming week. As there isn't a bus service from A to B, she was going to get a taxi. One of her other friends said 'I'll take you. Sit in the back with a mask on like you would in a taxi, will be fine.'
Can she do this, what's the difference?
If the police were to see an 80yr old lady driving a 75yr old lady who is sitting in the back, would they get stopped, and if yes, would they be fined?

And I wouldn't because as I'm sure Sqad knows better that I do, routine eye tests can reveal the beginnings of serious sight problems which can occur especially in older people. Not that it would make much difference, mind you, as I doubt it you'd be able to get treatment even if it was diagnosed. However, nobody knows how long these latest restrictions will last. The first lockdown lasted fifteen weeks and this one looks like extending well into the early summer.

burlyshirley Is it likely that 2 elderly widows would be in a support bubble, perhaps it is, I don't know. I live on my own and in a support bubble with my daughter and her family, so I don't know of other connotations.(not sure that's the word I was looking for, but you know what I mean) :-)
If Nj has said no need to lie and it is permissible, then that's fine with me.
Sqad it's a diabetic eye test.

//My BIL owns a taxi firm and the cars are disinfected between passengers, they proved gloves and masks and the drivers change their gloves and masks after each passenger//
Then that's all he can do. People still want taxis for their permitted journeys (some people I know use them for shopping) and your BIL needs to earn a living. As with all things, some risk is inevitable. We can only try to minimise the risk but it cannot be eliminated.
