Religion And Respect
68 Answers
Today, yet again, when ABers raise issues that touch on religion, they are confronted by a barrage of bile, ridicule and condescension. It is a measure of those who do so that they can only engage in insults, many of them highly personal. I don't recall any of the even slightly religious attacking atheists or agnostics in this manner. And that, I suppose, speaks volumes.

Where have I said that I take exception to smiling?
If you care to read my post again, my reference is actually not to smiling per se, but to 'superior smiling' which is something else entirely.
Although your willingness to mis-read my post so you could have a pop at me did make me smile, but with amusement, not superiority.

MIBs, I never take offence from your posts but always find them challenging and thought provoking, but I think your theories are either muddled or poorly expressed.
Reason cannot exist in isolation, consciousness is required, and then we reason.
So, we regress to what?
What does reason tell us?
It tells me there is an origin, and that requires a cause.

Consciousness (especially at the level required for reason) and reason itself are recent developments in the scheme of things. As I understand your world view, consciousness and reason are the beginning of things. Our world views are logically incompatible. There's no point in attempting to reconcile respective world views that are logically incompatible as has been demonstrated time and again in this forum.
If it's any consolation, I've not found anyone in these forums who share my world view either. Perhaps we have both thought long and hard about many aspects of life and the world we live in to come to our respective world views. In that regard we may well be very much like two peas in a pod. I too remain here in the hope of having my ideas challenged by anyone willing or capable of participating.
