As far as I can make out, a holiday let registered for business rates and not council tax, whose rateable value is less than £12,000, is entitled to small business rate relief - i.e does not have anything to pay. Is that right? Anyone have any experience of this?

Your statement is correct as long as it's just the one holiday let property that you own. It also assumes that the property is in England, as the situation might be different elsewhere in the UK.

Hi Chris, thought so. Have discovered that two holiday lets in my courtyard (owned by two different people) have registered their properties for business rates, and it seems from what I could find and what you say, that they don't have anything to pay, while the rest of us in the courtyard have recently received stonking council tax bills - not fair!
