We are constantly made aware of healthy eating / lifestyle on the media and from government. In the past certain sugary items / drinks have been banned from TV. Some supermarkets have removed sweets from their checkouts in a effort to promote healthy eating. YET, here we are being brainwashed by Subway into thinking that crisps on a sandwich is a brilliant idea, rendering any healthy sandwich, unhealthy.

I've never had a crisp sarnie but then I've never had a chip butty either. Do you think it's a geographical thing?
I think some of it is Prudie, plus of course what your parents ate as they were growing up.

There's some round here who'll eat a potato pie in a barm cake.

That's a push too far for me.
What's a barm cake?
^ With chips, Mamya?

Nothing wrong with a crisp sarnie, yum.

Chips on the side maybe Maj.
Barm is the word for bakers' yeast in the part of the world I was raised and barm cakes are baps/teacakes.
My gosh....and they put pies in that. That's a heart attack on a plate!! lol
//this country has the highest obesity rate in the world,//

I don't think you are right there, Teacake. UK generally is well down on the obesity scale in terms of other countries. Here's a link for most obese populations as at 2021.

I know very few obese people.
I do love a butter pie
Oh yes!
You can't get them down here in the south...I used to eat my fill when we were on hols. I must get a recipe.
i went off subway when i learned that all their products were halal, which is a story for another time... Crisp sandwiches don't do it for me, i prefer chicken, or ham, avocado or even as i had yesterday smoked salmon and cream cheese.
i'm quite fond of the occasional dark choc digestive sarnie.
Ringlet, I think Danny beat you to it at 14:40.
In fact...you've posted a link to this thread.
Or at least that's what I'm getting. ;)
I don’t have a problem with subway. If I’m out and the choice is subway of greggs, then it’s subway. The bread may have sugar in it, but it’s not smothered in butter and the dressings are optional. Not that I’ve been out for a long time....
I put a meat and potato pie in a butty once just to see what it would be like and it was DELICIOUS ! The butter melted with the hot pie and I put tomato sauce on it as well. Not something I have regularly I hasten to add !
