I'm thinking of getting a tattoo in the next week... approx 3 inches long by 1 inch high. How long will a tat of this size take to heal enough so I can go swimming/expose it to sunlight etc?... I'm off on winter hols middle of November and want it fully healed by then... or should I wait until my return as the time between now and then (8 weeks) is not long enough? Thanks

As it will still wont be 100% healed by then, just be careful to keep tat covered in the hot sun and be sensible when swimming, loads of sun cream should help. You will get best advice from tattoo artist.
i have two tattoo's that size and they healed witin a week...but you must use the balm as instructed. i wouldnt advise swimming or sunbathing after this week, however 8 weeks is more than enough time to b healed so you should b able to enjoy your holiday.
dotty03 I have 12 tattoos, whist your tattoo may look fine and no longer hurts, it is not possible for any tattoo to heal in 1 week. I was advised to keep my tattoos out of the sun for 6 months to prevent them fading, but that does seem a bit extreme.

The answer is common sense at the end of the day and listen to the tattoo artist.

ratter15, common sense says dont have the tattoo done in the first place.
vehehelpfulgay your a boring old fart!!
I had a tattoo at the end of April about 2 inches wide and 3 inches high. It was never particularly sore but took 3 or 4 weeks to heal. The tattoo artist said I should keep out of the sun for 8 to 10 weeks. Get it done now it should be fine by the middle of November. What are you getting? x
