I have just read that the house next door to where little George lived with his parents had a severed gas pipe in it.As this was almost certainly the cause of the explosion I would think criminal charges will follow.

being an inveterate wonderer
if the person inside that had severed the gas pipe had tried to bind it up with you know sellotape and then much later it had become undone

they put a smell in it now ( coal gas smells) so ...

Yes, you can smell it, I had to have the gas cut off for days when I smelled some (and my sense of smell is terrible).
