I honestly don't know because whether you stay, or whether you go, you're facing certain death.

Faced with that immediate prospect it means trying to work out in your mind, in a very short timeframe, which terrifying death would be the lesser evil.

None of us can ever know what terror those individuals faced, and how their surviving loved ones must be torturing themselves with this thought.

i went to new york last year too and we took a taxi down to battery park near where it's based, it was so sad thinking about it. i watched the programme last night on the bbc. How would you feel if you saw a boeing 747 come through your window? i'd **** myself and i don't think i could have jumped, only if it was maybe the tenth or so floor.

Nope - wouldn't jump. Of course, this requires a huge stretch to put myself in that situation, but I would imagine that at the time I wouldn't know the full extent of what was happening - it all went down so quickly. So I probably would think there's some miniscule hope of escape or of helping others. To be with others would be preferable. To jump would be to give up all hope - since that would be a most certain death, and I don't know if I could give up like that. Of course, it's sheer speculation.

Well said scuzzball. What is the point of this question? None of the people on here have ever been in that situation. Watched a bit of the BBC program last night but soon gave up. What was the point of it? 9/11 is history why keep going on about it?

I watched a programme a while back about the 'jumpers' as they named them.

One way of thinking was that they decided to jump as it made them feel more in control of their destiny...they weren't going to sit & wait, to die in the way that the terrorists wanted. I remember finding this quite strange, considering the fact that it wasn't known to the victims at that moment that it was a terrorist attack.
