Panasonic Lumix Camera,

I have had my camera for a while but whenever my battery runs flat, I have to remove it from the camera which means I have to re-set the date etc. every time I need to re-charge it on the battery charger unit which comes with the camera. I have a cable which came with the camera but that is only used for transferring the photo's, I had assumed that the cable was also used for charging the battery, but that is not the case. I contacted Panasonic this morning and they gave me a part number but when I checked, it is the same battery charger unit which I already have, but there is nothing wrong with it and all I was asking them was whether there is another cable which I can purchase, which will CHARGE the battery rather than transfer the photographs, but obviously the lady I spoke to at Panasonic, either did not understand my question or something. I just need to know whether there is a way of charging the battery "IN THE CAMERA" rather than having to remove it every time it goes flat.

But... a flat battery shouldn't erase your data. I run batteries flat all the time and that's never happened.

I've used Lumix cameras for many years. Settings like time, date etc. are supported while you charge the main battery by a small battery (capacitor) for a small time. True of many electronic devices that require the removal of the main battery to recharge. However, most of my photography is wildlife, and as an RSPB volunteer I haven't been able to get onto reserves. My main battery was flat for too long and the capacitor charge went with it, So, the question is: did you leave your main battery flat for a long period. If so you will need to reset your time/date. Best to recharge your battery before ir is fully flat. There is to my knowledge no own board recharge on Lumix cameras at he moment
