My double mattress is 10 yrs old and although it seems ok I have been advised this about the time to replace. So where do I start? Do I buy the most expensive I can afford, do I go by brand name? I know I want a medium firm mattres but get lost after this. Are these memory foam mattresses worth a look and how do they compare to traditional types?

we got a new mattress about 3 years ago and its knackered already so have just bought a memory foam topper which is lovely. my other half has serious back problems tho so our mattress needs to be good. I would suggest a mid range price and depending on base, e.g. if you have a slatted bed you would be better to have a sprung mattress whereas if you have a divan, a sprung mattress is not as necessary. If you can affored tempur tho, go for it. luxurious and protecting your bones for the future ;0) sleep tight

Vi-Spring .............. once you have had one you will never ever want anything else .. trust me ...
We have had trouble with getting a suitable comfortable mattress and have now bought a memory topper from Argos and it is fantastic.Saved us spending more money on new mattresses.Thoroughly recommended.
after 11 years our mattress finally got too lumpy, so last year we paid nearly 600 for a hand sprung mattress. one that has a winter and summer side. it cost more than the pibe bed and mattress cost 11 years ago but its brilliant as long as you remember to trun it regularly.
