I've seen several references to 'emo' in pop videos (late lamented p-rock.tv) and now in the Onion website. I thought I knew about music but i am clueless re: emo. Is it anything to do with a dorky comedian of the same name ?

This is Emotional Hardcore. Current bands of this genre include Saves The Day and Dashboard Confessional. NB Emotional Hardcore sucks ass. I would advise listening to proper music.
