For children ask the parents for a choice of 3 presents then let the parent know what you are getting. For the adults I agree with Christmas hampers. Some adult advent calendars are a present in themselves you just give the gift on Dec 1. Find out if the adults would like something for the house or go towards the Xmas meal. I give crackers, nice wine, port and ginger wine and a table decoration
