But seriously, no duty-free drink - import of alcohol by airline passengers is prohibited in the Maldives. If you go via Dubai , cigarettes and perfumes are probably the best buys in duty-free; everything else is cheaper online, or in discount shops, here in the UK. Take a pair of 'jellies' if you can get hold of them - much better than flip-flops if you're paddling in the sea, (or if it rains).
Join up,and see what others say here, though it's been a bit quiet lately.

OK here goes:
If you are doing a boat transfer have travel sickness tabs and sun cream in case. Can sometimes be a long journey and occasionally rough.
As you would expect on a small island if you need to buy stuff its expensive, don't forget the essentials.
Buy an underwater camera (you can get cheap disposables)
Take a day trip to other islands is a good day out.
Don't be tempted to take booze the chances are customs will take it off you.
Take snorkelling equipment with you.
Enjoy every minute it's fantastic!!
