I don't have Netflix and don't want it - but I do want to watch one programme that will be shown over Christmas.
Is it likely to ever be shown on a FreeView channel? It is Robin Robin

i don't know about that program barry but at this time of year they often do a 1 month free trial.
Then you can also watch the crown in that month, which i can't believe anyone would not enjoy immensely

I have no interest in The Crown - and no free offer at the moment. If they do have a free trial in January would Robin Robin still be available? I don't know how Netflix works really

i am making a big assumption there that it's the £5.99 pm you dont want to pay though - it could of course be some other reason. it's pretty easy to cancel though

if it's made for netflix (again, i dont know that show) it probably wont be on freeview soon, if ever.
Sometimes they do "retire" films/shows and you cant get them on NF anymore

I’ve just gone onto Netflix, found Robin Robin and tried to add it to my list but it won’t let me.
I even started the film for a minute then looked at my continue watching list and it wasn’t there either. Odd.

Barry, I'm not entirely sure how Netflix works either but like you, there was something I wanted to watch on it but didn't want to subscribe to it.
When I mentioned this to my daughter she said they have Netflix and can add me onto it at no extra cost which she did.
No idea how she did it, but I can now watch things on it and it doesn't cost me anything.
The only thing I think you would need to have is a Smart TV.
Perhaps a member of your family might have it and they can add you to it.

you dont need a smart TV - you can watch on a phone or computer too. Barry has virgin too and it's on 204

Robin Robin is a 30-minute film, made by Aardman Animations for Netflix. So, unlike regular movies (where Netflix might only buy in the streaming rights for a year or two), Netflix hold the rights in perpetuity. So, while Netflix might licence another broadcaster to show the programme on Freeview at a later date, there can be no guarantee of it.

Netflix doesn't offer free trials ( https://help.netflix.com/en/node/16282 ) but you could sign up to the basic service for a month for £5.99 and then cancel. (There's no ongoing contract involved).

Barsel, when you sign up to Netflix, you are allowed to create up to 5 different profiles. I have both Netflix and Amazon Prime thanks to my daughter creating profiles for me on her plans.

^^^ Those individual profiles are only meant to be used for different members of a single household. From Netflix's terms of service:
"4.2. The Netflix service and any content accessed through the service are for your personal and non-commercial use only and may not be shared with individuals beyond your household".

Thanks all. I don't want to get hooked in to signing up for these services - where would it end? I'd prefer to buy it on DVD if it is released in that format.

I won't be piggybacking anyone's Netflix account.

for someone as savvy as yourself barry, you surprise me. If it IS released on DVD it'll probably be more expensive to buy than 1 month of Netflix. it is easy for you to sign up for NF, watch it and cancel the same day even.
The crown is one of the most brilliant tv series' ever BTW :)

If I buy the DVD I can watch it whenever I like, sell it, donate it to a charity shop, lend it out ….

You get to watch Robin Robin and anything else that comes up in the future.
