However it's a little sad that people in Plymouth only get just the one seal. The seal photographs I posted here the other day were taken on a beach in Norfolk where there are currently 4000 of them!
I can't argue with that, Alba. Although anyone who gets a bit too close to them might find out that they're far from cute. There are large areas of their breeding grounds up in Norfolk that have been closed off to the public due to aggressive bull seals. Even the trained wardens, who normally go onto the beach to conduct weekly counts, can't access those areas at the moment.
Personally, no, but then I'm not a keen swimmer in any location. My father used to swim off Lowestoft beach every Christmas, he did it for years. Brrrrrrrrr
The Lowestoft event was cancelled this year, due to Covid concerns, Roo. Almost all of the other Christmas Day and Boxing Day dips/swims around here were called off too, either due to Covid or due to concerns over rough seas. With nobody formally organising it in the first place though, the Clacton event can never be called off, although the numbers there were substantially lower than usual this year.
