I have to teach singing to a group of 17 year old boys. Most of them are goths- pierced etc. They are musicians, not singers, and I know it is going to be hard finding songs they will like. I'm not suggesting that I pander to them and only sing their "type" of music, but I do want them to keep coming!!
Do you have any suggestions of songs we could do as a group that are "cool" enough for them to take seriously? Can be from any era. MANY THANKS
How about something from Jesus Christ Superstar or Godspell (I loved 'Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord'), or This Is The Dawning Of The Age of Aquarius. Not that I'm religious at all but a good song is a good song!
A couple of my grandkids are a bit like that but for some reason they fell for Johnny Cash, e.g San Quentin, Boy named Sue, Dont take you Guns to Town Son ect.
Not only did they like the words they like the guitar playing

PS One still has a CD of mine. Only just remembered
a new single, welcome to the black parade by my chemical romance is a really excellent song to sing to and i would expect the boys would like it too. its males singing and i would say its quite a good song to teach too. you can buy it for 79p at iTunes. hope i've helped...i'm only 13 myself
