Will you be celebrating our dear Queens platinum jubilee on the 2-5 of June, if she’s spared for it then I hope to organise a street party reminiscent of when she came to the throne, lots of flags and music , I remember 1953 on Coronation Day, it poured down , my Mum dressed me in a lovely blue dress and I wore white knee length socks with red, white and blue crepe paper tabs on elastic, plaits with big r.w.b bows,it was so wet , the dye ran down my new white socks before we went to plan B and had our party in a church hall
Do you have any memories of June 1953, The Coronation?

Why would people be planning for event in June next year. I was thinking it's this coming June. Goodness knows what I'll be doing in 2023!
Remember Lofty that June is Festival season, we may be out raving.
Pat it is June 2022

It is this year Pat
Feb 6th 2022 is 70 yrs sine the Queen ascended to the throne.
2nd June 2023 is 70 yrs since the Coronation.
Yes Barsel. The Coronation jubilee is next year in June 2023. Not this year. I was beginning to wonder if it was only me that got it right. The Queen ascended to the throne in February 1952 and wasn't crowned for over a year afterwards.

Anyway, I'll be at a festival with Randy. He'll have great fun pushing me around in a hippy wheelchair!!
Sounds like the celebration starts with the anniversary of the Queen ascending the throne and runs through to the anniversary of the coronation. I expect there'll be an extra holiday in 2023 too

There has been some confusion on this thread between Assention and Coronation.
// He'll have great fun pushing me around in a hippy wheelchair!!//

It doesn't have square wheels maann, and gives plenty of space.
I remember the Silver Jubilee. We had a street party in the rain. There was a fancy dress contest for the kids, but my sister and I refused to put on the outfits my aunty had spent hours making.

I won’t be celebrating particularly for the Platinum, but I admire the Queen.
Reigns are measured from ascension not the Coronation. If wasn't the case the records would not include 5 .monarchs
Empress Matilda.
Edward V.
Lady Jane Grey.
James Francis Edward Stuart.
Edward VIII.
None of which were crowned
I doubt we'll have a party here, Bobbi... :-)...but I do remember clearly the Coronation Day party in the UK.
My mum took me to the school hall where we were having a celebratory tea around a big table.
I was two seats away from Tommy M. A lady was bringing around a plate of cakes for us to choose from. I spotted a pink fondant fancy type cake. I wanted it. It was mine. Then Tommy took it! I had a tantrum and was removed from the hall and taken home.

Fast forward twelve years. A knock at our door. It was Tommy. He was asking me for a date.
I gave him short shrift. As if I'd date the boy who took my cake in 1953!

Lovely Gness you always make me smile ( thank you)
Welcome, Bobbi....met his brother about three years ago. He said...Oh our Tommy would love to meet up with you. Only if he brings a plate of pink fondant fancies was my reply.
Mind you the brother doesn't know what I accidentally did to him in 1968. A rather long tale for another day.
You okay?
