last night my Nokia 3.1 suddenly stopped either receiving or sending emails, I use Gmail, all emails I try to send say queuing but then nothing happens. There is no trouble when I send or receive emails on my desktop, I am not very technically minded so please can someone in very simple terms suggest what I can try.

It sounds like it's nothing to do with Gmail.

It sounds like your phone has lost connection to the Internet.

Your router is obviously working because the desktop will connect, but perhaps there is an issue with the wifi. Try switching your router off, wait a few seconds, switch your router back on, wait a few minutes and then see if your phone works.

Thank you but all other internet services are working on my phone.
Is your phone's storage full?

no
Try closing and reopening GMail on your phone. If that doesn't work, try clearing the cache - step 2 here

haven't done anything but have just received an email from a friend so hopefully the outgoing ones will suddenly decide to work as well. Thanks everyone for your suggestions

To all those who came up with suggestions to solve my problem last night I thought you would like to know that in the last half hour my phone pinged and low and behold there was a message saying that problems with mobile phone reception caused by the high winds had been fixed and sure enough when I tried to send an email it went straight away and I have had a reply saying it has been received.
Thanks for letting us know, appreciate it
