I don't know why one person insulting the whole world should be okay but when it's directed at AB, it's objectionable. ymb's post about culling the stupid might be nasty: pp's post was no more so. Personally, I think I can survive both.
Trust me, so can I - when it becomes regular and frequent then it starts to become wearisome and unpleasant.
There is another shot here, of the pier and the lifeboat station and lifeboatmen in orange Helly Hanson suits. The image shown at 22.43 shows the round building that contains measuring equipment with the lifeboat station right next to it by the chess board. Much further on down the pier you can see the light house. That is where the big waves were breaking. I can promise you that the lifeboat station is not "inland" ... virtually or otherwise.

Thanks for that Togo. Good job they didn't have to get the boat out though!!!
Not half Pat. They are currently repairing that pier and lauch area nafter storm Barra caused partial collapse. The area has been closed off to the public since, and I think those guys were watching for any further damage or even being on the ready to move expensive gear if they had to. The lifeboat station personel would have had similar concerns I would think, the station being stuffed with expensive kit and maybe even the lifeboat, if it was in there, was in danger. The Photographer and certainly the "reporter" knew damned well who the brave men were and used them to bait the public instead of pointing out that they were on dangerous duty. Never trust anything the beep says or intimates.
the bbc did not say or intimate anything about it except "Here are pictures from across the UK showing wind, snow and disruption."
I think I just said that.^^

Very impressive photos though. Did you see the one where the police are asking the swimmer to get out of the sea?
That was New Brighton on the Wirral. See the search and rescue teams kitted out to the nines and the 3 blokes in the freezing wind with trunks on? ... ohhh and gloves. Haha. I think that was before the real wind got up and the tide was not high. Kin freezing on that shore in August.
thanks, Togo. Was the photo I linked to before misleading? I imagine it was at low tide.
It certainly mislead you.
I shall try to be unleaded next time.
It looks a bit exposed to me, there is always a danger.
