Nhs Dentist Charges

The NHS dentist (at Bupa)only did a check up and said that the scale and polish was charged extra £41 with NHS or £55 I believe with the dental hygienist. Is this right as I thought it was included in the (lowest) band? Didn’t do my sisters neither, saying their teeth were clean.

My experience is that dentists have been given free rein to skimp on treatment, possibly due to time pressures albeit self-imposed, resulting in an extremely unsatisfactory experience over the last two years or so.

They're doing what human beings do when the load comes off, milking it, like their GP colleagues did and still do.

I always pay extra for the hygienist. It's never included in the check up charge. That price sounds about right.

The price might be right but it is not the NHS fee, both prices are for private treatment

I had a check up plus a scale and polish last week. My dentist does it himself as he doesn't employ a dental hygienist. Cost me £14.35 on the NHS.

I always pay extra for the hygienist.

I am insured ( at the dirty old bagga's rate - mucho but cd be worse)
and broke a tooth and had to pay £148 to get it sealed off ( not capped but sort of. That would be £500-1000)
