having an opinion that later turns out to be incorrect is not a lie.
I think some of those above are suffering from some sort of language/literacy problem, probably related to RBID that well known disorder that effects remoaners and the 5C.

I certainly think the government means well, but they have been wrong footed in this matter without doubt.
I certainly don't think Patel was lying, but always you get the impression she is out of her depth.

She hadn't said the visa application centre
(VAC) was being set up-meaning it was not yet finished-she said, "we HAVE set up a bespoke VAC" meaning it WAS finished.

If officials in her own Department lied to her, and she believed them, causing her to mislead the House and embarrass her, why have they not been sacked?
And why would her official lie in the first place? Sounds more likely she misunderstood what they had done.
