It depends on how much you want to spend? Most people opt for china or glass/silverware with ruby wedding decoration on it. I bought my parents a rose bush which is called "Ruby Wedding" and it is gorgeous, it is an old variety so it smells wonderful and it blooms beautifully since the first year they planted it. It is a constant reminder when they look out the window, not stuck on a shelf or cabinet collecting dust.
Friends of ours are coming up to their Golden wedding soon and have asked that there are no presents for them, but that a donation be given to one of their favourite charities.
Assuming that they don't really "need" anything, how about something from here (a wedding goat, perhaps):

How about some ruby red rose bushes?
Depends how well you know them, but once, for acquaintances celebrating a Ruby anniversary, we filled a box with all sorts of dark red candles, some scented, some not, a couple of ruby glass candle holders, a candle snuffer and a box of tapers wrapped in red velvet. We put the lot in a red-covered box lined with dark tissue paper and tied it with a red velvet bow. we've done variations on a theme for loads of other 'big' anniversaries and birthdays since then, and the boxes are always very well received.
Rubies!
How about buying the
Ruby Wedding Rose
from Apuldram Roses. Roses are a fantastic gift because they can be used for any occasion.
